Entitled to lie

I get a letter from the gun rights people who seem to be so morally superior they are entitled to lie. This is what is wrong with American politics today. We have become a 1 issue voting block and they rule on every issue. We cant have a school board election without getting the NRA opinion on it.

I am a firm believer in all the amendments and not just the second but the first too. I got a letter claiming I refused to support some pledge which is true but then it went on to claim I supported Clinton this and that and outlining what I believe and what is right. Because I wont speak directly for them they got no problem speaking for me.

It has further lowered my opinion of the NRA and that whole group works under the blanket like they do. We want open and transparent,,, but not here?  I received several rather threatening letters, if you don’t kinds of things.  Say I should read the constitution yet if it is brought up its quickly shoved under the table with a disinterested look unless its about the second.

The gun has become the shiny toy to distract everyone while they get slipped a mickey on everything else. I know hard core Democrats believe in gun rights and got one of everything but don’t back the lobby. I can see why. I believe in the second amendment but not the whole gang using it as a tool for anything they want.  They quote and lie and then  to threaten me to “change my mind” and vote for them.  If there is anything anti American this has to come pretty close.

Yes, some asshole lobby type I never met starts publishing quotes I never made and claiming I support this or that which I am actually rather ambivalent about on its own face or merits.

No,,, I am not pro gun, this means I don’t promote for guns and  I think we got enough of it now that its all consuming it seems. I am not anti gun. We don’t let some people drive either. But do we want every politician bullied by this lobby till they cant do anything even if it was right?  We have nuts shooting at cops and the solution is to sell some more cheaper and easier.

At every political turn the price of ammo goes up, duh, Obama has been the bullet dealers best friend. Same for Hilary, gonna drive millions in sales and increased prices and somehow makes me an enemy of gun rights. Just really goes to show who pulls the strings and is playing the people.

I never met this guy and he can publicly assume my position for not filling out a rigged pledge for he has given to me?  Should all elected officials be required to sign a  pledge to some characters they never even met from Washington? Is this what people really want?

I just took a constituency call now and was more than happy to explain my position for myself.

Cornered on education

I was asked what is wrong and I think a lot of it is a lot more simple. We have lost disconnect with the hands and following instructions in regards to task labor.  My answer is that we should replace some study hall time with some shop time and some mechanical drawing.

There are forms of autism we still don’t recognize and it all hooks together, we end up with people not suited to the work they do and now with enough schoolin we have the belief anyone can be an expert in near anything.

I know plumbers cant plumb, truck drivers cant drive and some of this I understand but there is a simpler set of skills that seem to get passed over or may be part of a disorder where they cant read people related to not understanding the difference between a little or a lot and if it matters.

People cant understand the difference between rinse it off and scrub it clean or if its clean or dirty. Combine this with not being able to tell when a boss is in a hurry or not, or if we have the job done or not and some kind of assessment ability regarding how long they think something might take at the pace they are going.

This may live for decades and may not improve with experience which makes one believe it may be a disorder. Now we can combine the thinking that because I got this experience and education I obviously know what I am doing. This is partially from specialization where there is no definitive end goal and no real production standard. Grants for testing and other schemes come to mind. Bureaucratic deals of sorts where slots are filled, some useless when the grant dries up.

It would be a good thing if a guy got elected with virtually no support from outside interests. This may be some you like and even some good ones but is also some not so good either. I wont be pushed around like a wheel borrow and basically took another whole fistful of pledge requests and tossed them.

I see the leader in this race has basically signed them all and just beginning a career in state politics, whats that going to look like in a couple years?  We also have lots of experts running things, as smart as they are one would figure they would get it all straight and it seems the more they know the worse it gets.

Maybe we need some not so smart?

Letter to the Editor

This was sent to the editor of the Mainstee News Advocate in response to several stories run in their paper lately.

My name is Cary Urka and I was on the same forum at the League of Women Voters.  The Sheriff’s forum really says it all. The candidates are so fearful of the wrath of the gun lobby they have to endorse almost every version of any law that appears to be pro gun. One question asked was “How do we stop mass shootings of police?” and another was “How do we enable  more people to get more specialized fringe equipment?” and there was even some effort to leave the impression that all the cops want a heavily armed public and that we would be better off for it.

Even the most ardent liberals in the room are basically 2nd amendment supporters, including myself.  Some hunt and I haven’t heard anything from them about people trying to take their guns, their targets, or even their self defense weapon.  Does the Sheriff HAVE to come out and make a case for armament in order to get elected?  We have our Sheriffs debating about people getting silencers and grenade launchers.  They have to say this because the lobbyists tells them to.  If I am against citizens having grenade launchers am I anti-gun?  How many times we hear of these nuts buying some of this stuff legally. Would we be safer if the market was open to cheap imported automatic weapons from China and shipped into Manistee County?  Would I be anti-gun if I felt that having cheap Chinese manufactured weapons at Wal-Mart like cheap Chinese toys for your children is a bad idea? The issue isn’t gun control for the citizenry, the issue is keeping guns out of the hands of the nuts who want to kill cops and kids.

Learning curve

I like playing in some games and it ended up in politics. I am not a great academic but let me play a bit and I can pick up. I used to be scared to lose but have  went beyond it at some point.

I do need to learn to study vs reading things that are interesting but nothing propels one thru the education like having to face deadlines. Lots of poly sci types walking around with student loans absolutely scared to sign up for an election where the worst that can happen is they lose.    Whoops, more later.

Endorsements, the good and the bad

Suppose I do not get or even ask for an endorsement from the NRA, does that mean I am against guns? If I don’t take an endorsement from one side does it mean I am for the other? If I don’t agree with you wholeheartedly id dosent mean I agree switch some other guy by default.

This part of it has really cost my place in this election cycle. I had a plan but really didn’t execute on time and it has left me with an empty hand.  This however should be a plus for voters, I don’t have 25 or 30 major groups with their hooks in or hand in my pocket.

I might have been less reluctant had I really studied the process before hand but my interest originally was some of the players and the ant farm that politics is. Its becoming more sophisticated despite some of the fundamental principles being the same.

This is something I should have prepped tactically for longer than I did and brought on a chief of staff and some consultant so I got on a calendar and didn’t miss important deadlines.  A good strategy only goes if the execution is right. Hindsight is always better.

The up side to this is I don’t owe anyone for anything in this game. This is good for the avg guy like me in the sense I can really tell people to sod off if they start arm twisting. I cant be pressured or a threat is absolutely meaningless to me. I have a lot of respect for sitting judges but not so much for a lot of other blow hards in the world.

My interest is really in pure politics here and not so much on the issues. I am almost compulsed to reveal mistakes on strategy and the chances and math behind it all but need to keep my mouth shut on some of it for now.

The campaign promise I could reasonably be able to keep is to be as much of a train wreck as I can be on behalf of the people of Michigan. When I see a turd floating will do the best to flush the thing,,,, not make deals with it. I  am about as anti establishment as you can get and stay out of prison. I pretty much figure most in this business are lying when their lips are moving or steering one to some emotional issue where they figure they can gain ground. We have a lot of one issue voters and it often goes against all the rest,,, many of these “issues” have little direct bearing on the individual so passionate about it.

I can really tell when the marketing has grabbed hold, everyone using the same buzz words. That is the point I become interested and to look at the underlying motivation. Who wants it this way and why and is it as it appears?

I have met a couple people that will back off their job and get to some honesty for a minute when it would be better served but most simply go on repeating clichés with buzz words and nothing pisses me off more than to be brushed off with than that.  I sent a couple of them packing, they came around with a speech which asks my opinion on a form they already have the answers too and want me to pay them so they can go have dinner with some more over stuffed types.

No matter what its called its still a shakedown contractor for lobby types.  If I give him 500 he is going to lobby for lower taxes, f u, I will skip the process and keep my 500 and you can buy your own lunch. This is a symptom of the problem and maybe even the problem itself.

I am going to encourage an open forum, I wouldn’t mind some ideas on how swift kicks. As I mentioned earlier its kind of disappointing on how few run for some of these offices yet complain the loudest. I had some obnoxious do gooder with 10 degrees tell me to learn to write my congressmen. Hahahaha

Political blog

When one runs for office you get a lot of people who want you to speak for them. Basically they want me to kiss their ass so that they can kiss mine later I guess but I am just plain not up to agreeing  10 pages of line item crap all prepared and waiting for me to sign.

Most of the big issues are being used as tools to divide up sides in a big game of survivor. We are not being “informed” about “issues”, we are being played with by them. We already  have plenty of experts. I really can’t come up with a single law to endorse at this point other than to up size some fine print. I have no new laws to initiate – we have enough problems with the ones we already have.

If you want the best ‘expert’ in this race and most experienced it would be Dan Scripps; if you want to nominate someone most likely to spend the first 4 years “learning to get along” and who to know to and who kiss up to then there are other choices in this race.  If you like someone wont take shit from smart aleck that cant complete a  sentence without 2 contradicting lies and  six multi-syllable words then I am your guy.

My main priority is trying to shove a stick in the spokes of some turd trying to line his pockets from the trough. If I get one of those guys to look me square in the eye and  tell me an unbelievable outright lie with an air of authority  we are going to have a real problem.

This is the problem we have now: before a guy even gets to office he has to hook up with the lobbyists, special interests, consultants, political party members, etc. and then we  expect it to turn out well for the rest of us?

I hate a lot of these people. I don’t know all them personally but one has to wonder if they actually believe themselves sometimes. I am the best shot for the average guy to get even a bit of representation here.

We see a lot of buzzwords about cooperation. This should be done in the interest of the people when today it looks a lot like you wash my back and I will wash yours and we both get what we want while the public takes it in the rear.

The Flint crisis says it all. I must have watched 50 shows on it and still don’t know squat except we have some elevated levels. Heck, I got 1 of my 3 children that had an elevated level and he hasn’t been within 100 miles of Flint. I love the response though: load every school bus up we can find with bottled water and haul ass over to a place everyone drinks pop and big slushie drinks anyway.

I saw someone buy a bottle of water the other day for $2 and they are standing next to a public water cooler. If we are going to tax water, well, alright, then pop too. $2 bucks a bottle, $16 a gallon, then complain about the price of everything else. It makes a $3 gallon of gas look cheap.

Whats this got to do with politics? Its living proof that basic logic and common sense are things of the past and some study hall time should be replaced with a life class and wood shop.  So much education has been focused on job, job, job, that learning and simple skills have gone by the wayside.  This leads to many specialists that go on to excel in their fields, but what about all the people who have no skills outside their narrow education and end up failing?

Here is whats looming. The student loan crisis will be another banking crisis and I am waiting to see whose fault that is.   How are we going to spin it on someone else?  Ultimately we will blame the people who took the loans!  We will have an employment crisis and a whole generation we have created that feels entitled due to student loans.

It will compete with car payments, after all anyone wants a new car should have one, right?  Does it matter if you can afford it or not?  Same for a new home and credit cards and a house full of electronic crap connected to a $200 a month cell phone bill? Is it really the fault of the consumer, or does the banking industry that is willing to put the consumer in this situation share the blame?

You shouldn’t send me to Lansing because you like me or because I shook your hand. You should send me because I am just like you.

Stay tuned for more nonsense.
